Library Card Sign-up Month 2017

September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the Pulaski County Public Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure community members have the most important card of all – a free library card!

We all know that a library card lets you check out books, magazines, DVDs, and more, in-person at the library.  But did you know that a library card also gets you access to digital services anytime, anywhere?

These services include e-books, online homework help, online databases, digital magazines, music, audiobooks, and streaming videos.  You can access all of these services on your phone, tablet, or laptop from the library’s website, all for no charge with your library card.

One new service for library card holders is Libby, a one-tap reading app for borrowing e-books and audiobooks.  The app is designed to make discovering and downloading library materials on your phone or tablet easier than ever before.  To use the app, all you need is your library card.  Libby is available on iOS and Android devices via the App Store or Play Store.

Need a library card and can’t get to the library?  You can sign-up for a Pulaski County Public Library card 24/7 from anywhere in the world using the library’s website.  A $1.00 transaction fee applies to the online card application, as we utilize the credit card address to verify residency requirements.  Please note that this fee is only applicable to new accounts created through the library website.

There’s really something for everyone at the library, and it’s all free with a library card.  “Our library provides access and programs/activities for all ages and types of learners,” says Librarian Pat Ringen.

In appreciation of all NEW library patrons, a gift certificate for something yummy will be given to people who sign up for a new library card in the month of September.  Can’t find your library card, or is it in scruffy condition?  This month, the library is offering FREE replacements cards, too.

For more information on how to sign up for a library card, visit the Pulaski County Public Library at 121 S Riverside Drive, Winamac, IN, or call 574-946-3432.
