Bring some popcorn and a blanket—it’s movie time! As a part of TorchFest, Pulaski County’s celebration of the Indiana Bicentennial, the library will be showing two free movies outside on the lawn of the courthouse. First up on Friday, October 7th at 7:45, we’re showing Hotel Transylvania 2. Then on Saturday, October 8th, at 7:45, we’ll show the newest entry in the Star Wars series, Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Throughout the week we celebrate libraries as a place where people can freely access materials of all sorts, even books that have been banned or challenged at certain times and places. This year we're reading Night by Elie Wiesel—pick up a free copy at the main desk and join us for a discussion of the book on Thursday, September 29th, at 5:30.
A library card is the coolest card, and September is the month to get one! Throughout the month, anyone who signs up for a new library card will receive a prize. In addition, the fee for replacement cards will be waived. If you’ve lost your card or if you have one that’s badly damaged, get a new one for free!
As kids head back to school, remember that the library is a great place for them to spend their after school hours. It’s an ideal location for studying and doing homework, and we have programs to keep kids engaged Monday–Thursday at 4:00:
Lego League: Every Monday, kids of all ages use their imaginations to make Lego creations!
Family Movie Night: On Tuesdays we watch a fun movie that’s appropriate for all ages.
Pokémon League: Local youth gather to play the card game Pokémon on Wednesdays.
The library’s most popular annual program is finally here—Summer Learning! To recognize our state’s 200th birthday, this year we’re going to Celebrate Indiana!
Library patrons of all ages can take part in Summer Learning. Once you sign up, you’ll get points for checking out and returning books and other items. Kids and teens receive prizes at certain point levels, while adults get to enter prize drawings at the end of the summer.
