Preservation Week 2018

During Preservation Week, libraries all over the country present events, activities, and resources that highlight what we can do, individually and together, to preserve our personal and shared collections.

Join us for a virtual tour of Pulaski County cemeteries at our program Graveyard Tourism, Saturday, April 28th at 10:00.   We’ll view and discuss the final resting places of famous (and infamous) people of local and national interest.  Coffee and refreshments will be provided!

Money Smart Week 2018

During Money Smart Week, we join organizations around the U.S. in offering helping members of the community better manage their personal finances.

Come to “Where Does Your Money Go?” on Tuesday, April 17th, at 5:00 to learn about budgeting and setting money goals.

Stop by the library anytime this week to pick up helpful information and money-saving tips!

National Library Week 2018

National Library Week is April 8th–14th!

During National Library Week, we’re celebrating the many ways libraries lead their communities through the transformative services, programs and expertise they offer.

Throughout the week, come in for library-themed games, trivia, and puzzles for the chance to win a prize!

Libraries wouldn’t be here without you, the patron.  To celebrate, come in between 11:00 and 2:00 on Patron Appreciation Day on Wednesday, April 11th, for cookies, coffee, and camaraderie in the library’s Activity Room.

Check Out an Indiana Historical Society Museum Pass

Looking for something to do over Spring Break?  Check out a pass to the Indiana Historical Society's museum – it’s free with your library card!

Each pass allows up to 2 adults and 4 children to visit the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located on the Canal in downtown Indianapolis.  You also get discounts at the café and gift shop!

Silly Safaris Live Animal Show

See a variety of reptiles, mammals, birds, and bugs at the library on Saturday, March 17th at 10:30 a.m.!

Silly Safaris’ shows feature positive human-animal interaction and educate about wild animal conservation.

Guests from the audience will get to join each animal for a game that teaches about the natural world!

This show will be a great blend of fact and fun for all ages!

Library Lovers Month

February is Library Lovers Month, and we’re holding our annual Hearts Campaign to raise money for 2018’s Summer Learning program.

Summer Learning continues to get bigger and better – last year over a hundred adults and 296 kids & teens participated.  Support from the community is what allows us to make Summer Learning such a fun and popular program.

Throughout the month, you can buy a heart at the library’s main desk for $1, $5, or $10.  Your donation will go directly toward this year’s Summer Learning program.

New Light Therapy Lamp Brightens the Library

Are you looking for a little more light in your life?  Try the library’s new light therapy lamp!

The relative lack of sunlight during winter months is thought to negatively affect mood for some people.  Exposure to bright light may help alleviate these “winter blues.”

Our new lamp generates illuminance of up to 10,000 lux.  You’ll find it in the library’s Reading Room.  Library patrons are welcome to come and sit under the lamp anytime.

We hope our lamp helps you have a happy, brighter winter!
