The Great American Read

Vote for your favorite books and help choose America's number one read!

The Great American Read is an eight-part series on PBS that explores and celebrates the power of reading, told through the prism of America’s 100 best-loved novels (as chosen in a national survey).

The series investigates how and why writers create their fictional worlds, how we as readers are affected by these stories, and what these 100 different books have to say about our diverse nation and our shared human experience.

Banned Books Week 2018

Celebrate your freedom to read during Banned Books Week, September 23–29!

The Pulaski County Public Library supports the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship.

Books are still being banned and challenged today. A challenge is an attempt to remove or restrict materials, based upon the objections of a person or group. A banning is the removal of those materials.

National Voter Registration Day 2018

Register to vote or confirm your registration at the library on Tuesday, September 25th!

If you haven't voted before, come in to the library on September 25th to sign up.  You'll want to bring your Indiana driver's license or state ID.

National Voter Registration Day isn't just for new voters.  Have you moved, changed your name, or not voted in a while?  You can update your information to make sure you don't get turned away on election day.
