Fire Prevention Week

We're celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week (FPW) at the library!

Fire Prevention Week is October 9th-15th.  To celebrate, we will be giving out a limited number of copies of Mrs. Meyer Is on Fire! from Dan Gutman’s “My Weirdest School” book series starting that week (first-come, first-served).

We will have FPW activities available for kids all week in our Children's Area.  Story Time this week will feature a special FPW book!  Story Time happens on Tuesdays at 10:30 and 4:30.

We’re very excited to host Touch a Truck on Saturday, October 8th!  Modern and antique fire engines from the Star City and Winamac fire departments will be in the library’s back parking lot from 10:00 to 11:00.  Bring your little ones to see these big trucks up close!

This year’s FPW campaign, “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape”,  works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe from home fires.
