PCPL Awarded Children's Book Grant

The Pulaski County Public Library recently received over $1,200 worth of kids’ books through a Children’s Book Project Grant from the Pilcrow Foundation with additional financial support from the Pulaski County Public Library Foundation.

These books include fiction and nonfiction for children of all ages. Titles range from Tractor Mac School Day by Billy Steers to The Fruits We Eat by Gail Gibbons to The Wild Robot by Peter Brown.

The Pilcrow Foundation is a national non-profit public charity whose mission is to provide new, quality, hardcover children’s books to rural public libraries across the United States. Through its Children’s Book Project, it provides a 2-to-1 match toward the purchase of children’s books to rural public libraries that contribute through a local sponsor.

The Pulaski County Public Library Foundation served as this project’s matching sponsor. The Library Foundation chose to take up this project as part of its mission to elevate early literacy in Pulaski County. It contributed one-third of the total cost of the purchased books.

This project is just one of many supported by the Pulaski County Public Library Foundation. It also serves as the fiscal partner for the Pulaski County affiliate of Imagination Library, has spearheaded the development of the new Story Trail in the Winamac Town Park, and supports the development and improvement of Pulaski County Public Library programs and facilities.
